Universal Orlando Officially Reopening June 5; Hours Revealed and Free Face Masks Retracted

It’s official – Universal Orlando theme parks will reopen on June 5 to the public. Park hours have been revealed along with other important information regarding safety procedures. As of now, Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure will be open from 9:00 am – 6:00 pm. Volcano Bay will be open from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm. CityWalk will be open from 8:00 am – 10:00 pm. These hours of operation are subject to change.

Team members will soon be scheduled for training on new procedures with the parks reopening on June 1 and June 2 for team member previews so the new procedures can be practiced and refined. After this preview, a limited amount of guests will be invited on June 3 and June 4 before the public reopening on June 5. Attendance will be limited during this period, so it’s possible that the parks could be closed due to capacity. Reservations will not be required to get into the parks

Almost all of the guidelines that Universal presented as part of their plan to reopen are still in place.

Universal is requiring all guests to wear a face covering during their visit. If you don’t have a face covering, they will be available for purchase. During the proposal to the Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force, Universal claimed that a free disposable mask would be given to guests who don’t have one, but that has now changed. Universal will also continue the temperature checks for each guest prior to their arrival to the theme parks and Universal CityWalk. A guest will be denied entry if they have a temperature of 100.4 degrees or greater.

Team members will also be undergoing temperature checks and wearing face coverings. All team members are required to participate in training on the new procedures. Universal will be increasing their cleaning and disinfection procedures along with limiting capacity and following social distancing guidelines in all attractions, restaurants, and shops.

Mobile food and drink ordering will be available for select venues in the parks and at CityWalk and can be accessed through the Official Universal Orlando Resort App. All guests are encouraged to download the app, so they can also make cashless transaction, utilize Virtual Line for select attractions, and more.

Select rides and attractions will utilize Virtual Line. With Virtual Line, you select a time you want to experience an attraction with minimal wait. Staggered spacing will be implemented in the queues and on ride vehicles to help promote distancing. Hand sanitizer will be required before boarding ride vehicles and 3-D glasses will be handed out individually if necessary for the attraction. Masks will be required during attractions with the exception being attractions that include significant amounts of water. The majority of attractions and experiences are scheduled to open, but several will not be available.

Volcano Bay will not be permitted on slides or in pools, but are recommended when guests cannot socially distance. Face coverings will be required for team members in dry roles. Those in wet roles will wear a balaclava when they can’t socially distance.

Other measures at Volcano Bay include limiting the capacity on each attraction. Multi-person raft rides will only allow one travel party per raft. Lounge chairs will be placed in a way that allow parties to sit together, but will still maintain six feet of distance between other guests.

As of this time, Universal has not shared official information about the hotels reopening, but the hotels are available to book Loews Hotels’ site as well as Universal Orlando’s.

This is great news that Universal is opening back up soon. Hopefully WDW will be able to open up also now that experts have acknowledged that even in areas that are getting back to work and out of home detention style lockdowns the coronavirus numbers are not getting worse as a result. I’m looking forward to walking Main Street USA or perhaps near Tower of Terror very soon, ice cream in hand.

    • DVCC400

experts have acknowledged that even in areas that are getting back to work and out of home detention style lockdowns the coronavirus numbers are not getting worse as a result.

FACT CHECK: There are no, and have never been, any thing close to a “home detention style lockdown’. Ever. Stop spreading your garbage.

FACT CHECK: No experts have said that the “numbers are not getting worse” as a result “in areas that are getting back to work”. You don’t need to be an expert, you just need to be able to read graphs and count numbers. Florida has had an average increase in new hospitalizations since April 28.

      • Charlie

        Victor is a moron.

Did you see the fake chart that Georgia put out making sure it looked like infections were going down? They conveniently changed the date order to fit their story.

Wait until about a month after these parks open and these states are open. Infections and deaths are going to go through the roof!

I want things to be open, but people are idiots. You give them an inch they take a mile. You tell them we’ll open but you have to social distance and wear masks…within a week or two they’ll be on top of one another with many not wearing masks even though they are required.

I can’t wait to see one of our “Patriots” standing up for their mask free rights in Walt Disney World.

        • sunbun

          Why the anger?

        • Brian Peters

What’s with the name calling? “Victor is a moron.” “People are idiots.” “Charlie is mean.”

        • Taryn Duncan

People need a very serious lesson on what “rights” are and what they aren’t. No one has the “right” to be without a mask in public during these circumstances. If they read the Constitution they love to tout carefully enough, they would find it outlines stay-at-home orders and the government’s responsibility to protect public health and well-being through the implementation of such orders. They love to pick and choose what they are going to yell and scream about while ignoring the parts that are inconvenient to them.

          • DVCC400

Well said. These fake constitutional experts that think there is some government overreach are just looking for any reason to push their rhetoric like “home detention style lockdowns”. They have no idea how good they have it in the US. The government could actually, legally, do much more than just issue orders to close schools and some stores and gatherings. And it’s all spelled out in the constitution.

          • Melissa Ousley

You are so very wrong. I would assume you are a supporter of “My body, my choice”. but not this time???

          • DVCC400

What was she wrong about….and why? I noticed you provided absolutely no specifics.

Cutting and pasting your exact words from a post below….

“You gave yourself away with that last jab. Either stay on topic or don’t respond. And leave the political bull out of it!”

        • Wintercat

That already happened in Daytona. Not only was there a crowd on the beach with no masks, but after six people were shot because Floriduh, the usual crowd of hundreds of gawkers around the police car had no masks.

Round 2 is going to suck.

        • Bruce Alan Bradley

Hello, NY and other states have skewed the number of deaths by covid19. A medical health expert in IL said that the state of IL counted a covid death as anyone who tested positive regardless of if they died from cancer , heart attack, etc…. It was in the news and online in a live vid.

I have a friend who is a ER Dr in Alabama and he said they were told by hospital admin that anyone who tested positive and died in the hospital to count it as a covid19 death because the govt is paying them for any covid deaths. He disagreed with it but went along.

CO has reduced their number of deaths by 200 from prev reporting.

          • DVCC400

NY and other states have skewed the number of deaths by covid19

            According to who?

A medical health expert in IL said that the state of IL counted a covid death as anyone who tested positive regardless of if they died from cancer , heart attack, etc…. It was in the news and online in a live vid.

Source? Sorry, we’re going to need more than “it was in the news”.

I have a friend who is a ER Dr in Alabama and he said they were told by hospital admin that anyone who tested positive and died in the hospital to count it as a covid19 death because the govt is paying them for any covid deaths. He disagreed with it but went along.

Sounds, um, credible (rolls eyes). Um, what’ “government” is paying them? And…..why? Did you ask any follow up questions.

CO has reduced their number of deaths by 200 from prev reporting.

            Cool story, bro.

            Florida:
            Population: 22 Million
            Positive Covid19 Cases: 40,000
            Covid19 Deaths: 1,670

            New York:
            Population: 19,500,000
            Positive Covid19 Cases: 325,000
            Covid19 Deaths: 26,282

You forgot to make a point.

Now go look at other states with the same comparable population and see who has fewer deaths. Now these figures are 2 weeks old so pretty sure there has been a slight increase in both states.

Um, and then what? Still waiting for a point.

But I think our state govt (FL) has a better grip on whats going on

Compared to who? The state you just compared them to has reduce their cases and deaths by 90%. Florida, on the other hand, hasn’t come close to that level of reduction.

      • Brian Peters

Oh please, “Home Detention Style Lockdown” is merely a turn of phrase and you know it. And most people I know would deem it to be an accurate one. Fact is most people are forced to stay at home. We can’t go to work, even if we’re among the lucky ones to still have a job. Kids can’t go to school. We can’t go to sporting events, restaurants, movies and most shops. In other words, most us are (or were) in lockdown. To insult someone for using the phrase is garbage.

Florida did see a one-day uptick in reported new cases according to Johns Hopkins data, but yesterday they reported 776 new cases. For perspective, on the last day of Florida’s lockdown (I won’t dare call it home style detention), they reported 826 new cases. In other words, a level number of new cases, also known as “flattening the curve,” which was the stated goal of most medical experts at the outset of all this so we don’t overwhelm our medical system. If there was a genuine fear that the relaxed restrictions were going to cause the curve to surge then Florida’s hospitals wouldn’t be trying to coax fearful residents back at this point. To stoke fear is garbage.

Fun Fact: The United States is the third most populous country on the planet and is outpacing the world in terms of the number of per capita test conducted on a daily basis. We also have far more reliable date than the other two countries that are larger than us, which are China and India. So, of course, we’re “number one.” To misrepresent that data in order to make a cheap point is garbage.

But thanks for the pleasant reply to the original poster who was only expressing optimism at the decision to slowly and thoughtfully reopen the parks. A decision based on input from experts far more informed than you or I ever will be.

        • DVCC400

“Home Detention Style Lockdown” is merely a turn of phrase and you know it.

EXACTLY! It’s deliberate inflammatory language and he pushes this agenda over and over. He’s been called out on it by others besides me. Regardless of what “most people” you know might think, it’s far from accurate. The fact that they “think” this at all proves the point that misinformation and inflammatory language is dangerous.

Fact is most people are forced to stay at home.

That’s NOT a fact. People can literately go to anyplace that’s not closed. They can fly on airplanes or drive their car anywhere they want. Go to a park, take a walk, go to one of the many stores still operating. Or just go to work.

All you have to do is look at any graph to see that both cases and hospiticalizations that were once flattened in FL, have been both creeping up again.

We can’t go to work, even if we’re among the lucky ones to still have a job

Many people can and still do go to work. Just because you can’t go to places with lots of people does not mean you’re “locked down”. That phrase is most often used by those pushing an agenda that suggests this is fake, that masks don’t work, that government is overreaching. etc. etc.

To insult someone for using the phrase is garbage.

I didn’t insult anyone. Do you know what it means to insult someone? I told them to stop pushing their fact-less talking points (also known as garbage). It’s not true. It’s garbage. I’m not the only one who’s pointed this out to him.

For perspective, on the last day of Florida’s lockdown

          FACT CHECK:
No where in the US had a “lockdown”.

if there was a fear the relaxed restrictions we’re going to cause the curve to surge then Florida’s hospitals wouldn’t be trying to coax fearful residents back into hospitals at this point. To stoke fear is garbage.

No one is stoking fear, just pointing out the states own statistics. I said nothing about not going to a hospital or any other such garbage that you’re spewing.

The United States is the third most populous country on the planet

So what? it still has more cases PER CAPITA that any other on the planet.

and is outpacing the world in terms of the number of per capita test conducted on a daily basis.

And….what point were you making? We have more cases per capita than anywhere else, so of course we should have more tests per captia

We also are have far more reliable date than the other two countries larger than us which are China and India

So what? is it that much more reliable than the UK, or Italy, or Spain, or France, or Brazil, or Belgium or the long list of other countries also infected and reporting?

So, of course, we’re “number one.”

Uh, no. Just because we “possibly” have more reliable data than the two countries you claim don’t, does not mean that we still don’t top the world PER CAPITA.

To misrepresent that data to make a cheap point is garbage.

I didn’t “misrepresent the data” That data IS the data. To claim its not just because you think that maybe some other countries aren’t reporting as well as all of the others on the planet are……is garbage. Just because you don’t like the data doesn’t make it garbage. Your logic is that anyone simply pointing it out is “misrepresenting” it.

But thanks for the pleasant reply to the original poster who only expressing optimism

WRONG This poster has a consistent pattern of posting a “nice” message as a decoy one which he can insert his garbage talking point. He’s had to change to this tactic since he was so obvious before and getting called out every time. I guess the thinks he can get away with it if it’s buried.

at the decision to slowly and thoughtfully reopen the parks.A decision based on input from experts far more informed than you or I ever will be.]]

What parks? You mean “park”. Universal. What information do they have that we don’t?

          • Bruce Alan Bradley

People can go to work huh, Tell that to those that are still not allowed to return to their jobs here in Florida, New York, and especially LA. They have been threatened with being arrested. How about the MI Barber that had his licence revoked for reopening to support his family or the beauty shop owner that was jailed for doing the same. My wife’s hair salon has yet to reopen here in Florida and they have not said when they will reopen.

Bars are not reopened. People that work in those places are not getting income because the state ordered them closed. So its NOT FAKE that people don’t have the option to go into their jobs. For some yes, for others no.

Yes, people can go for walks, go to the beach, buy food, etc…. but not everyone is back to work or the unemployment rate would not be 20% or more. You posted a false statement saying people can go to work if they so choose.

Now a regular mask is not going to do anything to protect you.
            1. Read the warning label on the side of the box, it tells you will not prevent you from getting the virus. You actually need a respirator mask, not the mask that 90% of Americans are walking around with.

            2. A friend used a regular mask while using a paint sprayer and when he took off the mask, he had paint dust in his nostrils (He even posted the pic for people to see. Paint dust is bigger particles that covid19, therefore you are preventing nothing.

You are however doing as you are told. Some people will either follow what they are told without questioning and others will question what they are being told.

          • DVCC400

People can go to work huh, Tell that to those that are still not allowed to return to their jobs here in Florida, New York, and especially LA.

Reading not your strong suit, eh Bruce? I said many people, not people. This is true.

      • Melissa Ousley

You gave yourself away with that last jab. Either stay on topic or don’t respond. And leave the political bull out of it!

        • DVCC400

There’s nothing to give away. Victor’s posts are laced with politics almost constantly, and he always “gives himself away” as he wedges in his talking points into “decoy” posts (like the one above) that pretends to be well wishing, only to have some other true intention. He’s had to resort to this tactic to be more stealth, since he got called out so much. He brings this stuff on himself. It’s odd you didn’t wag your finger at Victor, only me.

  • Kelli Conte

All the talk about “temperature checks” make me laugh. Like no one has every heard of Tylenol or other fever reducers. I feel some people may try to cheat the safety systems and get around these checks. These are most likely the same people complaining about their civil rights and stay at home orders.

    • Laurel Lane

I’m curious – wouldn’t the hot Florida temperatures affect a person’s internal temperature? Would a person show a ‘fever-type’ temp just by being out in the hot sun for any amount of time? It’s quite a little jaunt from the parking lot to get to the Universal parks…

      • Taryn Duncan

You would have to be in heat exhaustion for your temperature to register at the numbers that are excluding admission. Your body naturally regulates its temperature and it does not vary that dramatically in normal circumstances. Just walking around the parks feeling normal will not put your temperature that high.

        • Laurel Lane

          Thank you for your response.

      • DVCC400

Probably not over 100.4. But I think your question is more related to the accuracy of the cheap readers that take your internal temperature with an external test. If the skin gets hot due to extended sun exposure, could that give an inflated reading? I really have no idea.

        • Laurel Lane

          Thank you.

        • Bruce Alan Bradley

Sunburns will cause a fever, My son was with my ex and she failed to put sun block on him and he got a really bad sunburn and was running a fever when she brought him back home to me that evening. So, yes it possible, but i would assume it depends on the severity and if you are light skinned.

          • Laurel Lane

            That makes sense…

      • Bruce Alan Bradley

Laurel, We live in Tampa Florida and it will get terrible wearing a mask here in 100 degree temps along with 100% humidity. If they are going off the same safety precautions as they did in china, they need to remember that China’s avg summer temp is 84 degrees (I googled it) and Florida’s is 100 +.

My wife has asthma and can only wear a face covering for about 20-30 minutes before she starts struggling to breath. So for us, a mask all day in the parks are not an option plus not very magical.

We have decided to wait until such a time that mask are no loner mandatory for the parks. If that means we must wait till late next year or longer, then so be it.

        • Laurel Lane

I have to agree with you. I don’t have asthma but I still can’t see how I could get through an afternoon in the Florida heat wearing a face mask, not counting an entire day. And what happens when the skies open up (as they are apt to do every summer afternoon) and your mask gets wet? They’re useless then. Even if there was no heat issue or a health issue wearing a mask, I think the magic would just be gone seeing masked cast members and fellow tourists everywhere. Disney is supposed to take you out of the every day world…

  • Tim Brown

Wow, a lot of doompanic stupidity being posted here.

    • Wintercat

Wow, a lot of covidiot science deniers here. Be sure not to get the vaccine when it’s released.

      • Bruce Alan Bradley

Guessing that you get every vaccination that comes out regardless? People get the flu vaccine yearly and still can get the flu. It does not mean you will not get it. It only means you May Not get it or the symptoms may be less.

I will defer getting it until i talk to my family doctor. If he says so and is willing to give to his family, then yes i will.

But just because the vaccine is out and someone says go get it is not in my playbook. I don’t follow like sheep. So as i said earlier. I will discuss it with my physician as well as my cousin who is a Dr and go off their advice, not yours, Bill Gates, the govt, etc….

        • DVCC400

Guessing that you get every vaccination that comes out regardless?

Regardless…….of what? Of what the flat earth people say?

People get the flu vaccine yearly and still can get the flu. It does not mean you will not get it. It only means you May Not get it or the symptoms may be less.

And……point? The flu vaccine, like so many others, has a very high level of effectiveness. And like so many others, is not absolutely 100% effective. Does that mean you should just not bother?

I will defer getting it until i talk to my family doctor. If he says so and is willing to give to his family, then yes i will. But just because the vaccine is out and someone says go get it is not in my playbook. I don’t follow like sheep.

But….that’s exactly what you just said you’d do….follow your doctor….(like a sheep). Or, is everyone else a sheep for their decisions and your decisions don’t count as being a “follower” of someone else’s advice?

I will discuss it with my physician as well as my cousin who is a Dr and go off their advice, not yours, Bill Gates, the govt, etc….

Uh, what? Why would you get advice about a vaccine from a poster here or from Bill Gates? Is Bigfoot involved in this scenario somehow?

        • Wintercat

Oh yes, that’s right, Bill Gates is plotting to use 5G and vaccine microchips to control people. I forgot that’s the latest WTF from the inbred reds.

  • Wintercat

The price of a ticket, and they can’t give a free mask.

I guess someone accused Disney of nickel and diming, and Universal management had to say “You ain’t seen nothin’, watch this!”

  • Technocrat

    OK, Karens.

    • Wintercat

      Okay, freedumb covidiot.

“Science is for smert people. I ain’t havin’ none of that.” *waves gun around*

      That about right?
