Permits Show Universal Getting Possible New Park Property Ready for Development

Universal seems to be preparing a massive section of land for development that many speculate will be the site of a new theme park for the resort. New permits filed with the state by Universal City Development Partners LTD show mass grading and stormwater management in the works for 346.4 acres on the south side of Sand Lake Road, which includes the newly acquired 101.4 acres of Pavilion at Sand Lake Road property as well as 245 acres of the Serenoa Village property.


The mass grading and stormwater management systems outlined by the plans are necessary for future development of the land, and this could easily be viewed as the first step in a much larger project or series of projects by Universal Orlando.

On February 2nd, Universal filed development plans with Orange County for almost 645,000-square-feet of warehouse and office space to be constructed on 101.4 acres. Universal has not shed light on its intentions for that project or any of the properties in question.

    Who’s “speculating” this will be a theme park? It’s a mighty long ways from UO’s campus.

      Just over a mile. Not far at all.

        No, Volcano Bay, which is the closest guest area, is about 1.7 mi. as the crow flies to the northwest corner of the parcel. But more significantly, it’s 3.5 mi. by road thru one of the most congested areas of Orlando. That’s a long way from contiguous.

          The northwest corner of this property 1 3/4 miles away from citywalk. Albeit a little more than a little over a mile. Still not a long way.
