If you still haven’t visited The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood, there is no better time than this summer. New and returning guests will be pleasantly surprised by some extra additions throughout one of the most immersive lands you can find in any theme park.
Wand magic allows guests to purchase a special wand and practice spells throughout The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and two new spells – Incendio and Alohomora – will be added bringing the total in Hollywood up to 15! Incendio is a fire-making spell that will vary in size, and Alohomora can unlock a secret door to reveal a hidden creature. Wand magic is also throughout The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade in Universal Orlando, so the fun doesn’t have to stop in Hollywood!
Three Broomsticks is also expanding their lunch menu this summer with some new British items, including the Ploughman’s Lunch, Cheese Toastie with Chicken, and Sunday Roast Sandwich. The Ploughman’s Lunch consists of ham, salami, country paté, English cheese, homemade pickles and a warm scotch egg served with bread, cranberry chutney and grain mustard. The Cheese Toastie with Chicken is a grilled English Cheddar cheese sandwich with chicken, crispy bacon, mustard and sliced tomato topped with a sunny side up egg served with a fresh salad or potato wedges. The Sunday Roast Sandwich is a freshly baked baguette filled with warm prime rib, caramelized onions, English Cheddar, horseradish sauce and homemade garlic pickles served with fresh salad or potato wedges.
For guests looking to play the part in the parks, Gladrags Wizardwear will sell a variety of apparel from the films, including a replica of Severus Snape’s robe, Hermione’s Yule Ball dress, and Neville Longbottom’s cardigan from the Battle of Hogwarts. If you head to the corridor between Gladrags Wizardwear and Dervish and Banges, you’ll find Madam Malkin’s Talking Mirror, which will entertain with a variety of remarks.
Finally, it may not be a new addition, but returning to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is The Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle, beginning Sunday, June 24. This nighttime show is projected onto Hogwarts Castle and gives guests a chance to show off their house pride by representing Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin. It is the perfect way to cap off a night in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
If these new additions aren’t enough to get you excited about Universal Studios Hollywood this summer, remember that it’s also your last chance to get out and experience Jurassic Park – The Ride before it closes on September 3 to become the Jurassic World Ride!
