All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, so maybe a vacation is in order? Luckily for you, the Overlook Hotel is now booking reservations. Universal Orlando‘s Halloween Horror Nights 27 will feature a haunted house based on the horrifying hotel from Stanley Kubrick’s film The Shining.
Guests of the event will step into the Overlook as if they themselves had “the shining”, causing them to question their surroundings as they pass through the haunted halls. Universal Orlando’s official blog, Universal Orlando Close Up, shared some details about the creative process, as well as what can be expected from the Overlook experience.
Expect some Universal influence on the classic horror film, as Charles Gray, writer and show director for Halloween Horror Nights, states, “I just finished looking at some of the house designs and am thrilled by the story we’re telling. It will be the warped psychological thriller you know and love with our own Halloween Horror Nights twist.”
“After watching this movie for the first time I remember saying, ‘I would never go into room 237.’ So, of course, that’s where we’re going to take you: all the places you shouldn’t go.” Gray writes, “You’ll come face-to-face with the murderous, ghostly entities around every corner. And of course, the best part will be trying to escape the sharpened edge of an axe.”
So if you are a fan with a taste for red rum, or just a park enthusiast with a hankering for horror, you won’t want to miss Universal’s version of the classic spine-tingling cinema that is The Shining.
Halloween Horror Nights 27 runs from September 15th through November 4th.
