Universal Orlando expanded in 1999 with Islands of Adventure and CityWalk, so they now needed on-site hotels to keep guests at the resort. A partnership with Loews Hotels was formed and in 1999 Portofino Bay Hotel was opened, followed by Hard Rock Hotel in 2000, Royal Pacific Resort in 2001 and Cabana Bay Beach Resort, the resort’s first value hotel, in 2014. In 2016, Loews and Universal will debut Sapphire Falls Resort, a caribbean-themed hotel right beside Royal Pacific.
Staying on-site at a Loews Hotel offers many amenities, but best by far is early park access. Every morning, hotel guests are welcome to enter Universal Studios Florida an hour before the park opens and experience everything that The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley has to offer.
