According to papers filed by Universal Orlando, the price tag for Wet ‘n Wild’s removal is an estimated $3 million. Located at the intersection of International Drive and Universal Boulevard, the first major standalone water park operated from 1977 to 2016 when the park closed. The demolition is expected to commence through February.
Universal has released no details as to their plans for the real estate, although many speculate hotels could be involved.Universal has given the 250 permanent Wet ‘n Wild employees the option of transferring to other areas of Universal Orlando. Universal Orlando’s new waterpark, Volcano Bay, is scheduled to open May 25th and will be located on its main resort property.
